Swans 89 bt Dockers 61

July 8th 2007 06:05
Milestone; 261st match

The Swans have overcome poor conditions and poor accuracy to defeat a determined Fremantle at the SCG. The game marked a significant milestone for Swans forward Michael O’loughlin who played his 261st match for the red and white’s; the most of any player to don the famous jersey.

In a rain-soaked, dour affair the Swans looked to be dominating, but wayward kicking kept the Dockers in the hunt. The Swans kicked 4.11 in the first half and consequently only lead by two points going into the break.

Weight of possession and sheer persistence got Sydney over the line in the second half. The Swans inefficiency in front of goal will be a concern, but the hard-fought win ensures the Swans are still in finals contention.

The back to back finalist still have a hope of making the final 8, however the next few weeks are critical if they are to have any chance of repeating the glory of the last two years

Swans 11.23.89
Dockers 9.7.61
