Get to the Centenary Game! Australia v New Zealand a snapshot of history
May 5th 2008 07:19
I've just come from the media call at the SCG today and the feeling around both sides was amazing, this is truly going to be quite special.
If you go to one Rugby League game this year, you really should go to the Centenary Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday Night.
It is being played 100 years to the day the first ever Trans-Tasman match was played, both teams are wearing replica jerseys and you can feel it is going to be a special occasion.
In 20 or so years time you can always look back and say I was there when ... scored in the Centenary game...
It is a new-look New Zealand team - new coaching staff and all - so it is unlikely to be a one-way show.
Sonny Bill is looking fit and looks determined to wrestle back pride - he has been out injured the last few times the two sides have met, but he is in ominous form...
Who knows what impact Wayne Bennett will have on the Kiwis? Players will die for Benny, and Steve Kearney looks to have a lot of credit and respect from his players...
Also, you get to see possible the greatest backline Australia has ever produced, A part from Lockyer unfortunately being ruled out - you have Slater, Inglis, Folau, Gasnier, Thurston - What more could you want?
How will the game go?
I believe that it will be a massive battle up front and if the Kiwis can get out to an early start, who knows how the Aussie's will respond...
