Bulldogs donate time and money to Westmead Children's Hospital

His NRL record stands at three goals from six attempts but Bulldogs star Daniel Holdsworth has given The Children’s Hospital at Westmead one thousand reasons to call him the best goalkicker in the game.
In one of the magical moments of Harvey Norman Centenary Fan Day, Holdsworth stepped in for an injured Hazem El Masri and stunned the game’s renowned kickers to win the sharp-shooting contest and be crowned the top goalkicker in the game.
The Bulldogs playmaker today donated the $1000 proceeds from his Fan Day triumph to the Oncology Ward of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Holdsworth only kicked for goal in an NRL match for the first time on Saturday and missed his first two attempts before slotting one from the sideline – the same spot he made his mark from at Harvey Norman Centenary Fan Day.
“The shoot-out was just a bit of fun but to be able to help the kids here at the hospital makes it special to have won,” Holdsworth said.
“They do some amazing work here and it’s a cause the boys are all proud to support.”
Oncology Ward Nurse Unit Manager Alison Baker added: “We're very grateful Daniel thought of our patients at The Children's Hospital at Westmead when he won the sharp-shooting competition.
“The Bulldogs players have often visited the hospital over the years and it's always a highlight for our patients.”
The Bulldogs tackle the Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval on Saturday at 5.30pm.

This was an awesome day - the kids got a lot out of it and it was all the Bulldogs idea.
They taught the kids to paly footy, signed endless autographs, gave away countless hats and posters and did it all with a smile.
They even attempted to speak French to one of the children who doesn't speak English - look out for a cerain fullback to have a new nickname in the coming weeks - I won't embarass him here...
It was a great showing - Rugby League's One Community were there to lend their support and give out toys - and it really made the kids day - which is all you can ask.
