Aussie's Dominate the Cricket- the new era is apon us.

Jaques played a wonderful innings, one that he had to fight for... It was not your typical Jaques century - but this proved what a class act he is and that he can transform his game to best serve the team. The sign of a true opening batsmen. Jaques has finally arrived.
As for the shot that got him out, it was a rush of blood, a loss of concentration. Yes, it was a poor shot - and again, very unlike him - he is a prolific scorer of "big Hundreds" and the occasion of a maiden test century got the better of him. He will be a much better batsmen because of it. So all in all, its been a very educational experience for the New South Welshmen!!
Hayden, coming off his innings against NSW probably felt too comfortable out there. It was a loose shot and looked bad. he was still in one-day mode, and he will be disappointed especially infront of his home crowd at the Gabba. But you can forgive Haydos, he tries to indimidate bowlers and sometime comes off 2nd best.
The ball that got Ponting was brilliant... Absolute genius, chucker or not... Punter was seemingly cruising to another century, he was never troubled and then he was gone. Murali flighted a ball that Ponting looked to have covered. I think Ricky was the most surprised person at the ground to find that he had been stumped.
A special mention has to go to the wicketkeeping. For a 'stand-in' keeper, it was very slick. Most keepers have the right to be asleep when they stand behind Ponting. Not much gets passed the best since Bradman. Most teams would consider Ponting gone for 50 a reasonable result these days. Such has been his dominance in the last 5 years.
Clarke, Hussey - absolute superb. controlled and settled. The Aussie middle order is rock solid.
Consider this... Australia score 550 (dec) and Adam Gilchrist did not even bat!!! That is embarassing really. Having a player of his class and devestation not even used is a cosmic joke. IF this is the new era in Australian cricket - the one we have been fearing, we are still in good shape.
The bowling is what interests most pundits. No Warne no McGrath, how often have you heard this in the last 5 years? Well, now the time is apon us... Watch for Stuart Clark to have a blinder.
Whilst Brett Lee claims to be the spear head (taking 2 for last night helped)... Clark is the best bowler in the side by far. Most consistent, best average, best strike rate, best mentality, - oh and he can bowl a bit too!! He has dominated every series since his test debut in South Africa and signs are looking like he'll do it again and again! How lucky are we to have him emerge at the end of McGrath's career? A similar bowler to replace the irreplacable. World Cricket must be wondering how many black cats they walked past under how many laders on Friday the 13th... How do Australia keep producing these players... You've heard of great era's before and dynasties... But even this is surely taking the piss...
I feel sorry for Sanath, that was a poor decision, but thats cricket. you win some you lose some. Unfortunately for the Gabba crowd, we won't get to see the thrilling strokplay of one of Sri Lankas finest statesmen.
With him in the pavillion, it will be a long day of toil for the other batsmen.
Prediction? An unknown Sri Lankan will stand up and score a gutsy century, but they will crumble around him and will fall just short of the follow on...
WHY OH WHY DID YOU BOWL FIRST?????
