ANZAC DAY - Roosters v Dragons - Free Pie and Beer*
April 22nd 2008 22:44
It will take an FA-18 Hornet just 11 minutes to reach ANZ Stadium from RAAF Base Williamtown but NRL fans are also being treated to their own form of express transport on Friday.
The FA-18 flyover will be part of the ANZAC Day entertainment for the traditional St George Illawarra and Sydney Roosters blockbuster on Friday, April 25, starting at 3.15pm.
To accommodate the thousands of fans who will converge on the stadium for the match, major event-style express trains from Central to Sydney Olympic Park will operate from 12.50pm.
The express journey takes just 21 minutes.
“ANZ Stadium is honoured to host the NRL’s ANZAC Day commemoration game and give fans all over Sydney the opportunity to be involved in a very special and solemn occasion,” ANZ Chief Executive Ken Edwards said.
“My thanks go to the Minister for Transport, John Watkins, for enabling major event-style train services to run to Sydney Olympic Park on Friday.
“Having express services from the city to the stadium is a wonderful service to participants in the ANZAC Day march, their families and friends, and of course footy fans.
“As a gesture to the Diggers, they’ll get free entry, free transport and a free beer and a pie at the Stadium, courtesy of our corporate partners Tooheys and Vili’s Pies. I’m sure this will be a day to remember for all involved.”
Starting from 12.50pm, four trains per hour will run from Central and stop at Redfern and Strathfield only before arriving at Sydney Olympic Park station.
After the match, major event-style services will run back to Central every 10 to 15 minutes until the last service at 7.14pm.
Footy fans can travel on the major event-style trains to ANZ Stadium for the economical off-peak fare of $8.20 return for adults or $4.40 for children. For more information, go to www.131500.info or call 131 500.

Free admission to the NRL’s ANZAC Day match between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters at ANZ Stadium
· Widows, children and grandchildren of these eligible serving and ex-service Defence Force members are also entitled to these privileges
Outside of these express services, CityRail will run to a Saturday timetable.
