All Eight AFL Games on Free to Air
December 20th 2006 08:36
The Age reports that Foxtel has failed in a last ditch bid to televise four of the home and away games in 2007 with Channels Seven and Ten last night rejecting a $50 million cash bid from Foxtel.
Channel 7 will try to negotiate with the AFL to stagger the two networks on Saturday night games and put Friday night football in Sydney and Brisbane to Channel 31.
However, the AFL says it will not allow Channel 31 to broadcast games and will not move the timeslots of it's Saturday night games. The AFL will only accept the ABC or SBS as broadcasters in the northern states.
The saga is not over yet, but will all eight games on free to air be better for football?

Fret X
At the moment 10 and 7 share the Grand Final on a bi-anual basis... could you imagine either 7 or 9 allowing the other to have the GF?
Not likely...
